If you only have 3 days for a journey traveling in Vietnam, it seems hard to choose where to go. As a local, I recommend you a detailed schedule for Vietnam Itinerary 3 Days.

3 days is too short to visit many different places in Vietnam and you should be ready for a rush trip so that 2 near tourist attractions are suitable.

  • Option 1: 2 Days in Hanoi, 1 Day in Halong Bay
  • Option 2: 2 Days in Hanoi, 1 Day in Ninh Binh

Option 1: 2 Days in Hanoi, 1 Day in Halong Bay

  • Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

After a long flight to Hanoi, you should take a short rest at first to prepare enough energy for 3-day itinerary in Vietnam. Next, you should go to enjoy Hanoi specialties, considered as a must-try thing whenever coming to Hanoi, that will definitely not disappoint you.

Next, you can visit some famous sites in Hanoi. I highly recommend you visit the Old Quarter of Hanoi, where you can find lots of cuisine and involve in lifestyle and culture of Hanoi people and especially, it is really fit for anyone who love photography.

In the evening, it is time to relax. You can have a coffee – a typical drink of Hanoi, highly recommending Giang cafe – the most famous coffee in Hanoi. You can also have some fun in Ta Hien Street.

  • Day 2: Halong Bay Discovery

For just only one day in Halong, you still can enjoy a wonderful Halong Bay cruise. In Halong bay, you can involve in a plenty of different activities when visiting this amazing bay.

First of all, you can go sightseeing and immerse yourself into the breathtaking scenery in Halong with a range of beautiful islands and islets. You can stop in Ti Tov island, one of the most wonderful islands on Halong Bay, to contemplate the beauty of mother nature and release your emotion.

After that, you can take part in a variety of interesting activities such as kayaking, swimming, exploring Thien Cung Cave, visiting the fish villages, enjoying Vietnamese cuisine or just seeing romantic sunset on the bay.

Tips: In Halong Bay, you should take a cruise tour that plans a detailed itinerary about where to go and what should do, saves your money and your time. All you need to do is to keep yourself a slot on boat.

  • Day 3: Hanoi Departure

For the last day in Vietnam, just relax and free to do whatever you want in Hanoi. You can choose to visit 2 or 3 of these well-known sites such as the Great Church, Opera House, Hoa Lo Prison, Temple of Literature, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum or West Lake and enjoy Hanoi street food. Moreover, you can buy some souvenir for friends or relatives and take some pictures of these beloved country.

Option 2: 2 Days in Hanoi, 1 Day in Ninh Binh

  • Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

In this first day in Hanoi, I suggest the same idea to the previous Vietnam Itinerary 3 days that you can read in option 1.

  • Day 2: Ninh Binh Exploration

Ninh Binh is a must-visit destination that there are a variety of places to explore. Here I recommend 2 choices in Ninh Binh

  • Choice 1: Hoa Lu – Tam Coc

If you are interested in Vietnamese history, this tour is the most suitable. Through this tour, you can gain more knowledge about history of Vietnam through Hoa Lu, known as the ancient capital of Vietnam. Here you can visit Temples of King Dinh and King Le – respectable heroes of Vietnam and learn about establishment and preservation on Vietnam. After that, you will move to Tam Coc to join in a unique boat ride on the river, passing through limestone caves and karsts, and contemplate the stunning nature beauty Tam Coc.

  • Choice 2: Bai Dinh – Trang An

Joining this tour, you will get more understanding about Vietnamese culture, especially Buddhism when visiting Bai Dinh Pagoda, known as the largest pagoda in Southeast Asia.
